CAN Story – Brenda Muhammad – FORCE

Posted By admin

Woodson Center Mini-Grant helps Brenda Muhammad save lives.

We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on Brenda Muhammad, a one-year mini-grant recipient and Executive Director of Focusing Our Resources for Community Enlightenment (FORCE), a volunteer-driven nonprofit based in Syracuse, NY.

Since its inception in 1996, the vision for FORCE has been to create a brighter future for families in underserved communities by providing social and educational programs that empower and connect them with the essential resources needed for a healthy and prosperous life.

At the core of Brenda’s organization lies her profound commitment to emergency preparedness services. FORCE works to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of the community by educating and training vulnerable and marginalized citizens in areas such as First Aid/CPR/AED and Safe Sitter babysitter practices

For the past two years, Brenda has been a recipient of the Woodson Center’s mini grant, which has provided funding and non-profit training to support Brenda’s STOP THE BLEED program. STOP THE BLEED is an educational course designed to equip individuals with three quick and effective techniques to take immediate, life-saving action in emergencies until professional help arrives.

“Instead of being a passive witness,” said Brenda “they can become an immediate responder because they’ll know how to STOP THE BLEED.”

Currently, Brenda is enrolled in our Neighborhood Leadership Development Institute (NLDI) online training, where she is gaining the knowledge and skills to mobilize volunteers effectively in creating the STOP THE BLEED kits.

Thanks to your invaluable support for our Community Affiliate Network (CAN) of neighborhood healers, Brenda was able to train and empower nearly 100 residents in their community – turning ordinary community members into heroes, capable of taking action and potentially saving lives.

When you support the Woodson Center, you are investing in organizations like FORCE, which are on the front line doing life-changing work in their communities.
