Posted By Woodson Center

Mary Nelson is the President/CEO of the Mary Nelson Youth Center, a center offering a food pantry for families, computer classes, and after-school tutoring. Mary’s efforts have grown the center to be a community resource agency for education, health, career services, violence intervention, mentorship, and financial literacy. Mary serves as the New York state lead for the Woodson Center’s Voices of Black Mothers United movement to give mothers a voice, resources, and support through the grieving process and help transform their lives into service.

Last year Mary was chosen to receive a $75,000 grant and HGTV renovations, as part of the Lowe’s “100 Hometowns” initiative.

When you support the Woodson Center, you are investing into organizations like Mary’s, who are on the front-line doing life changing work in their communities.
