About 40 years ago many of us realized that having only 23 Boys & Girls Clubs in public housing was woefully inadequate.
We scheduled a conference in Tampa for BGC leaders from around America. The keynote speaker I wanted was my old friend Bob Woodson.
When Bob came and started his speech he said, “the only reason I agreed to speak here is because I wanted to see what a group of crazy people looked like. Every other organization I know is doing all they can to get out of public housing, and you are doing all you can to get in.”

Needless to say, Bob became an instant leader in our movement, and we went from having 23 Clubs in public housing to having over 426 when I left BGCA.
Bob was with us all the way and I have always treasured his friendship and support…He was and will always be an amazing man and leader!
